What is the SHEPHERD MINISTRY?

The Shepherd Ministry was established to show our Genesis family that we really do CARE FOR EVERY MEMBER of our congregation. The name evolved from the parable of the Good Shepherd in which every sheep mattered to the shepherd.

Volunteers make a short call to members who have not signed the Attendance Pad for three consecutive weeks, to simply ask if they are well, and to say that we have missed them. 

A brief account of the calls is given to our pastors the following Sunday. Serious concerns are phoned to them immediately. This provides a valuable link between our ever growing church family and our busy pastoral staff. 

Since each volunteer is called upon approximately once every 8 weeks, and averages only 5 calls, it is a very easy ministry to execute and a very rewarding one. 

Because of the size of our church family we do not always know the person we call, yet frequently on Sunday mornings at church, someone will come and introduce themselves to you and thank you for calling them and showing that we care for them.
