Genesis Trustees are missing our 12-foot stepladder – any ideas as to its whereabouts?  Please call the church office at 467-2128.  We appreciate any help in finding it.

 

Notice to parents:  Please use extra care guiding your children through the church parking lot.  As a safety precaution it is always good to keep them close to you or holding your hand as you move to or from your car to the church building. 

 

The Genesis Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be Saturday, March 27 from 10 AM to 12 PM.  All children ages 2 to 5th grade are invited to attend rain or shine.  If your children are interested in attending, please sign them up on the sheet in the Gathering Hall.  The deadline for registration is Sunday, March 21.     Donations – We need donations of small wrapped non-chocolate pieces of candy and volunteers are urgently needed to stuff eggs, hide eggs, setup and clean up for the hunt.  Please leave candy donations in the box by the narthex table.  Volunteers should sign the sign-up sheet on the table in the Gathering Hall TODAY.  Anyone volunteering to hide eggs will need to be at the church at 8:00 AM on Saturday, March 27.  Please contact Amy Turner at 303-4554 if you have questions.

               

 

Calling all Graduates . . . The Genesis church family wants to honor the achievements of all our graduates.  So, if you (or someone you know) will be graduating from high school, or receiving a higher education degree at any level, please let us know by calling the church office at 467-2128.  Our Genesis Graduates will be honored on May 16 at the 11:10 service.  Please mark you calendars to attend this special service and the reception following.

SUGAR, SPICE AND EVERYTHING NICE!!!  Today is Communion Sunday Food Collection, and bakery items rule!  Cake mixes, flour, sugar, frosting, cornbread mix, pie filling and related items may be dropped off in the specially marked basket in the Narthex.  (As always, any non-perishable food items may be donated, and are gratefully accepted). Thank you!

 

Applications for the Raleigh District Creative Arts Camp to be held at First UMC, Cary are on the narthex table.  Camp dates are July 19-23.  Registration deadline-is July 1.

 

Lace up your running shoes and volunteer for VBS SonGames this summer.  We will offer a morning and an evening session, and are recruiting for VBS leaders including Trainers (Bible Story teachers), Coaches (Classroom Guides), Cooks (Snack Leaders), Art Leaders (Craft Leaders), Games Personnel (Recreation), Missions and Music Leaders.  VBS Sessions are scheduled for:

                Evening session:  June 20-24 from 5:30-8:00 pm

                Morning session:  June 21-25 from 9:30 to 12:00 pm

The new Coke machine has finally arrived!!!  It is located outside the elevators downstairs in the lower narthex.  The cost is $1 for a 20 oz. bottle.  Approximately 20% of the proceeds will go to Boy Scout Troop #152, who will be maintaining the machine.  Please contact Lori Mackowiak at 303-3344 with your questions or concerns.

 

Genesis United Methodist Women (GUMW)    Please note a change for the first Monday circle which coincides in April with Holy Week and Spring Break.  For April only it will move to the second Monday, April 12 at 7:00 PM.

 

 

9:45 AM Adult Sunday School Opportunities

 

 

“Resolving Conflict in Your Marriage”, a six-week session, continues today:  – Learn to transform conflicts into opportunities to energize your marriage and increase your love for your mate.  Meets in room 212B and is facilitated by Amanda Gustafson. 

 

Network Spiritual Gifts Class continues today – A new curriculum for discovering your spiritual gifts, talents, and passions for service is offered during Adult Sunday School at 9:45.  We will learn that God has given each of us unique gifts as well as learning that “we are a gift,” that will never be duplicated!  We especially invite our newest members or anyone who has never taken a Spiritual Gift inventory test.  Don’t miss this chance to open up new possibilities that you may never have imagined!  Facilitator:  Mary Ann Andrus   Room 211

 

11:10 AM Children’s Sunday School Opportunity

 

Children in grades 1-5 are invited to attend our 11:10 Children’s Sunday school Hour through March 28th.  This will be the last day for the 11:10 children’s Sunday School program until further notice.

 

 

UMYF will be headed to Millbrook UMC to participate in the Raleigh District Youth-led Worship Service on March 28.  We will be leaving the GUMC parking lot at 5:15 PM and will return at 8:30 PM.  This is a time for fellowship with other youth in an active, social and worshipful atmosphere.  The service will include Holy Communion.  There will be games, music and a snack dinner provided for $2.

Acolyte Training – Sunday, April 18 at 12:20 PM in the worship room.  Genesis needs acolytes for all Sunday morning worship services.  Typically, acolytes are between 6-12 years of age.  If your child is interested in becoming an acolyte, please sign up on the sheet on the Gathering Hall table.  If you are interested but unable to attend training, please contact Christie Burley at 467-2128 or cburley@genesis-umc.org.

 

Worship Leader Training – Sunday, April 25 at 12:20 PM in the worship room

 

Quick Response Training – Sunday, May 2 at 12:20 in the worship room.  If you have responded to a call to become a Quick Response volunteer you will need to attend this training session led by Steve Posson.

 

Genesis is now accepting applications for two new part time staff positions:

 

     Assistant Music Director for Contemporary Music    This person will lead/direct the singers and instrumentalists in the Genesis Praise Team, select music for Sunday 8:20 AM service, in conjunction with the Music Director and Pastors, develop new music for the Praise Team and the congregation.  Individual must have skills in the organization and preparation of a musical ensemble, experience in contemporary music, with demonstrated ability as an instrumentalist or vocalist, and strong leadership and interpersonal skills.  Salary commensurate with experience.  For application contact the church office at office@genesis-umc.org or 467-2128.

 

     Part-Time Youth Director to work with Middle School and High School youth, this person would work 20 hours per week to lead, create and implement UMYF programs and youth Bible study, train/recruit/coordinate adult volunteers, communicate with parents, and be active in the worship life of the church.  We are looking for someone with youth experience.
